Situated inland from
Blythedale, the name epitomises the historical background of the area.
The town is home to the King Shaka memorial monument to commemorate his death. The
monument is erected over the grain pit into which Shaka's body was cast.
The town has a vibrant central business district with a distinct Eastern flavour catering
for the needs of locals and visitors alike.
It also has a large sugar mill and pulp and paper mill on the boundary of the town and
visits to the mills can be arranged.
